So you want to build a fightstick?

The PCB!

component price range: $4 (Raspberry pi pico +GP2040 firmware) to $125 (Brook Fusion)

The PCB is the central part of any fighting game controller, functioning as its brain. It is the middle point between your inputs and the thing you're playing on.

Compatibility

Different PCBs have different compatibilities. Some are made for one platform only, some are cross-compatible with specific platforms, and some are compatible with every platform. Buy your PCB with respect to the platforms you will play on.

A Brook Fusion board, compatible with all platforms including PS5. A Brook Zero Pi board, compatible with PS3, PS2, PC, and Switch.

Note

All the wires you buy will connect to this in some way. As such, if you want to do everything as simple as possible, be sure that the board you buy has a 20-pin header. With this, you can use a 20-pin wiring harness to plug everything in very easily. Without a 20-pin header, you will have to crimp wires, solder, or both. That's time and effort!
